The Holy Quran is a living book, full of prophecies about what will come in the future as signs for those who see those prophecies to believe. The name ‘Quran’ itself is a prophecy, meaning often read or recited. So, what has the Holy Quran prophesied 1400 years ago that now has come into being?

Pollution of the Earth

We all know that because of mankind’s inventions and works, the Earth is being polluted with trash in the oceans and carbon dioxide in the air. This is prophesized clearly in the Holy Quran:

“Corruption has spread on land and sea because of what men’s hands have wrought” (30:42)

‘What men’s hands have wrought’ could be cars and factories and the smoke that comes from them, fast fashion and non degradable plastics littering the planet’s land and sea, and chemical and nuclear waste from laboratories and war.

Women’s Rights

An important part of many countries’ history is gaining women’s rights. While the Holy Prophet (sa) established women’s rights 1400 years ago, most countries only gave women their rights recently.

“And when the female-infant buried alive is questioned about – For what crime was she killed.” (81:9-10)

Travel of the Air

“And by the heaven full of tracks” (51:8)

Today, there are so many different planes and helicopters to travel through the air to other places in the world. In this verse, heaven means the sky, and the tracks are the ‘paths’ of the planes in the sky.

Future Prophecies

There are many other prophecies in the Holy Quran that have yet to be fulfilled or are in the process of being fulfilled in front of our eyes.

“And they ask thee concerning the mountains. Say, ‘My lord will break them into pieces and scatter them as dust.” (20:106)

According to the commentary of Malik Ghulam Farid, he says, “The reference in the word al-Jibal (mountains) here is to the powerful Christian nations of the West. The prophecy in this verse is in regard to their complete destruction. The decline of the West has already begun. The last two World Wars have greatly weakened it (Spengler’s “Decline of the West” & Toynbee’s “A Study of History”).”

Another prophecy regarding the future is the prophecy in which Allah says in the Holy Quran, “Remember the day when We shall roll up the heavens like the rolling up of written scrolls by a scribe. As We began the first creation, so shall We repeat it — a promise binding upon Us; We shall certainly perform it.” (21:105)

This prophecy is regarding the Big Bang, how the universe will end, and what will happen after that.

As we have seen together, the Holy Quran is a book full of guidance and prophecies about the future. There are prophecies about the scientific innovations of the future and about historical events in the timeline of humanity. These prophecies can help us get stronger in our faith and prove to others the truth of the Holy Quran.
